Our commitment to public service is an extension of our practice, not a departure from it. The same qualities we bring to our clients’ most significant matters—careful judgment, meticulous preparation, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to solving difficult problems—also guide our work on behalf of individuals and institutions serving the public good.

Throughout our careers, we have devoted substantial time to representing those who could not otherwise afford legal representation and to advancing important public interests. Our pro bono work includes matters involving wrongful convictions, asylum, civil rights, children’s rights, constitutional and statutory issues, the arts, and other matters affecting vulnerable individuals and the broader community. We have also participated in significant public-interest litigation addressing issues of broad societal importance.

Our public service extends beyond the courtroom. Our lawyers have served as officers, trustees, and board members of educational, religious, charitable, and other nonprofit organizations, helping those institutions navigate governance, fiduciary, financial, child-safety, and other complex legal and strategic issues. Those experiences deepen our understanding of the responsibilities entrusted to organizational leaders and inform the perspective we bring to clients confronting consequential decisions within their own organizations.
